Each year, Summit Choice Credit Union awards two $5,000 scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact in their community. We want to thank all our outstanding members who applied for this year's scholarship. We were inspired by the many applicants who demonstrated a genuine commitment to serving others, strengthening their communities, and making a positive difference. Your passion, leadership, and dedication made this year's selection process especially meaningful.
After careful consideration, we are proud to announce this year's $5,000 scholarship recipients: Morgan Elonzae and Samantha Evans. Congratulations to both winners! We applaud your hard work, leadership, and commitment to your communities, and we wish you continued success as you pursue your educational goals.
Samantha Evans
Samantha is a graduate of Norwell High School who will be pursuing a degree in exercise science/occupational therapy at Trine University this fall. Samantha has served as a Children’s Program volunteer at Helping Hands Family Resource Center. She has also held numerous offices in Wells County 4-H, receiving the Junior Leader of the Year Award, serving as both a Junior and Senior Ambassador, and volunteering with the Backpack Program and Feeding Tomorrow’s Future initiative. She also participated in several service projects as an active member of her school’s student council.
“Volunteering has always been an important part of my life, and I plan to continue serving others while in college,” she said. “As I transition into a new community, I look forward to getting involved with campus service organizations, participating in volunteer events such as food drives and community cleanups, and working with local nonprofits that support families in need.”
Morgan Elonzae
Morgan is a Homestead High School graduate who plans to study nursing at Purdue University. As a member of Homestead’s varsity dance team, Morgan was actively involved in the school’s Champions Together program during school activities and events. She also volunteered at local nursing homes and interned in Parkview Hospital’s Labor and Delivery department. Her long-term goal is to become a NICU nurse.
“I encourage others to understand the importance of volunteering by sharing my own experiences and leading by example,” she said. “Many people think volunteering only benefits the person receiving help, but I have found that volunteers gain just as much in return. Volunteering has helped me become more compassionate, patient and understanding of people from different backgrounds and life experiences.”
